Are The Turf Fields More Dangerous?

The question that has been around football for so long now, are the turf fields more dangerous.

Within the past week the NFL has come out with a study about the fields, stating that “7 of the 10 stadiums with the highest number of injuries per game on average use synthetic turf, and 7 of the 10 stadiums with the least injuries use grass.”

The NFLPA, which is the program that protects the player rights has come out and said that they want the turf fields gone. This whole debate started again with the injury of Aaron Rodgers in week 1, tearing his achilles on a turf field. The players say that with the fake grass there is not as much give when you step on it, therefore when you get tackled your foot doesn’t give and can cause knee and foot damage.

That is why in my opinion all of the local fields should stick with real grass.

My name is Jake Houston and I'm in 11th grade. My homeschool would be Urbana High. I like fishing and just being outside, I also love sports. I like writing about sports, that's most of the reason I took the class is because I want to grow up to be a sports reporter. I think one cool thing about me is that my uncle played in the MLB, he was a pitcher for the red sox. We have 3 dogs whose names are Charlie, Finley and Tanner.
