Senior Bowl Recap

Senior Bowl 2023

It’s finally the draft season for the NFL, with that comes the senior bowl. All the invited seniors from college come out to show their skills.

My first standout is Jayden Reed, a wide receiver (WR) from Michigan State. He stands at 6’0”, 185 pounds. He came into the senior bowl as a good prospect, but lacked some speed when running deep routes. He proved them very wrong on Tuesday when he was top five in speed on the leaderboard. He looks good running routes with some good top end speed. I think he really helped his daft stock by being there.

My second person is Jake Haener, a quarterback (QB) from Fresno State. While it is a smaller school, he put up 2,800 yards and 20 TD’s. He stands at 6’”, 200 poundsHe is on the shorter end of QB’s but can still launch the ball downfield. He came into the senior bowl lacking some deep ball accuracy and some questions about his build. He had a very good week throwing some balls downfield. He also proved his maturity by showing some good accuracy. While he might not have the highest upside, I think he is a pro ready QB.

My third favorite was Tyjae Spears from Tulane, he stands at 5’10”, 195 pounds. He ran for 1,500 yards and 19 TD’s. He was probably my favorite player there, he showed some elite break out speed and ability to make cuts. He also had some nice reps pass catchinghe matched up against a linebacker and caught a nice 30 yard pass. I think he has the ability to be a starting running back in the NFL.

Last, but not least, is Dawand Jones a left tackle (LT), He is 6’8”, 370 pounds, from Ohio State. He has the biggest wingspan to ever play in the senior bowl. He only practiced one day but showed skills, he could get off the ball and was able to drive the edge rusher. He is projected to go 20-30 in the draft, but I think he will be a top 15 pick in the draft. He is by far my favorite o-line prospect in the draft, and I think he can be an elite LT in the NFL.
