Since 2014, the indie horror game franchise known as Five Nights at Freddy’s, developed by Scott Cawthon has been a popular game series. Since then, a movie has been in production and in the works. But until a few months ago, we hadn’t really received a lot of news regarding the movie. We now have news of the cast and crew who are taking part in the movie.

First off, we have news of the cast and crew of the movie. It was first announced that Mathew Lillard and Josh Hutcherson were the first two cast members selected to play in the movie. Mathew Lillard was known for playing as Shaggy in the live action Scooby Doo movies and Stu Macher in Scream. We haven’t seen many films of Josh Hutcherson. It was later revealed that Mathew Lillard would be playing as the series main villain and the killer, William Afton, and that Josh Hutcherson would be starring as Mike Schmidt, our main protagonist. Two more cast members were revealed as Mary Stuart Masterson and Piper Rubio. Mary Stauart Masterson would be playing as ‘Unknown Villain’, also rumored to either be Chica or Vanessa, from the Security Breach and Help Wanted games. Piper Rubio would be playing as Mike Schmidt’s younger sister, Abby. Some have assumed this is either a replacement for Elizabeth Afton or possibly the protagonist from Five Nights at Freddy’s 4. Three more cast members have been revealed, however only one has a role. Johnathan Hernandez will be playing as a homeless man. The two other cast members Hayley Nelson and Zach Holzman weren’t given any roles yet.

Next we have the crew and the release dates. The company in charge of the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie is Blumhouse Productions, and the scriptwriter is the developer of the original franchise, Scott Cawthon. In August of 2022, Jason Blum posted an image from Jim Henson’s Creature shop on Twitter, confirming that the company will be in charge of designing the animatronics in the movie. The director for the film will be Emma Tammi, whom directed The Wind. In October of 2022, Jason Blum tweeted that filming of the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie would start in February of 2023 (as this article is being written), and end in April. We should be expecting to see this movie late 2023 or early 2024.

Finally, we have the plot of the movie. Some have suggested that the movie may take place in an alternate universe, given the new names for some of the characters. However, it is unknown as to whether or not the movie will take place during all of the games. Originally, the movie was to take place during the first three games, but that was during the first ever announcement of the movie. The movie may take place during the first to the fifth games.
