Overview: Family in California gets contacted by a ghost through the television set. Originally friendly turned into a malicious ghost. 

      3. Alien (1979)

Director: Ridley Scott

Overview: Deep into space, the crew of the starship receives a distress call from an alien spacecraft. When the crew finds an alien egg, that’s when all the terror starts.

      4. The Shining (1980) 

Director: Stanley Kubrick

Overview: Based on the Stephen King book, a family become caretakers of a hotel isolated in the mountains of Colorado. While there, the family goes through psychological torture, with a gruesome history.  

      5. Trick r Treat (2007) 

Director: Michael Dougherty

Overview: Traditions are forgotten in this town, when they come face to face with real ghosts. The horror of not following traditions comes back to haunt them. 

       6. The Exorcist (1973) 

Director: William Friedkin

Overview: Loosely based around a true story, when the young girl starts to act weird. They contact the local priest and soon find out they have to do an exorcism.

       7. Halloween (1978)

Director: John Carpenter

Overview: Halloween of 1963 when Michael Myers became a murder at 6. Locked away until Halloween of 1978, he comes back for revenge.

       8. Psycho (1960)

Director: Alfred Hitchcock

Overview: A Phoenix secretary is on the run after stealing $40,000. She finds a backroad motel where she meets the owner and her maker. 

       9. Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) 

Director: Wes Craven 

Overview: Teenagers become prey to Freddy Kruger, who only goes after teenagers in their sleep. When in real life it kills them. 

       10. Scream (1996) 

Director: Wes Craven 

Overview: Ghost masked killer stalks high school students, it’s considered to be a comedy-slasher horror film.
